Open Minded Policies
The SMAA is very open minded and offers many diverse services and
certifications to practitioners of all martial arts and styles:
Realistic and ethical policies for the martial arts
Martial arts training offered through the SMAA
Martial arts ranks awarded by the SMAA
Registering an existing martial arts rank with the SMAA
Possibilities for martial arts rank evaluation and promotion through the SMAA
Recognition of a new style of martial art through the SMAA
Martial arts instructor certification through the SMAA
Martial arts rank examiner certification through the SMAA
Other martial arts certifications through the SMAA
Each club leader or instructor may use the rank criteria that he chooses.

The SMAA exists to help legitimate martial artists from all arts and styles to
reach their goals in the arts. Please feel free to contact us if
you have questions, would like to make suggestions, or if there is anything we might do for you.
PLEASE NOTE:
We do not wish to circumvent
the traditional teacher/student relationship in any way. If an
individual is currently under the guidance of an instructor, the SMAA
will only work with that individual once we have the express consent and
blessing of his/her instructor.
The SMAA encourages the highest level of loyalty to one's instructor and seniors.
Please don't ask us to undermine this loyalty by going behind your instructor's back
to explore possible rank evaluation, promotion and certification - we
will never knowingly work with another instructor's students unless
given permission to do so by that instructor.
