Recognition of a New Style of Martial Art

A martial arts instructor that desires recognition for a new style of martial art through the SMAA must first submit a technical syllabus for his martial art and have his level of ability confirmed (the founder of a new style is usually certified at the highest rank he legitimately holds in a mainstream martial art) before any further action can be taken. This confirmation must be in the form of personal or video demonstration.

Recognition of a new style of martial art involves:

Founder certification for the style’s headmaster

$10

Rank promotion for the founder in the new style

fee varies

Instructor certification for the founder in the new style

fee varies

Rank Examiner certification for the founder in the new style

fee varies

Once certified appropriately, the founder of the new style is authorized to teach and promote his own students up to one rank below his own with the full support and endorsement of the SMAA. We will never interfere with the administration of an individual’s school, but will always be available to help and offer guidance, etc. when necessary.

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to explore the opportunities that may be available to you.
